Direct answer: SpringWell publishes its prices. On October 15, 2026, during a sitewide “15% Off All Systems” promotion, SpringWell listed the salt-based SS1 at $1,606.50, SS4 at $1,785 and SS+ at $2,677.50, against regular prices of $1,890, $2,100 and $3,150. The FutureSoft salt-free systems were $1,785 to $2,320.50, the filter-plus-softener combos $2,231.25 to $4,284, and the 2-in-1 systems $2,286.48 and $2,833.09. Shipping over $29 is free; installation is not included, and a bypass valve is an add-on ($58.79 on the same date). Prices and promotions change, so check SpringWell’s site before buying.
Publisher boundary: Water System Guide is an independent research publisher, not a SpringWell retailer or affiliate, and earns nothing from SpringWell sales. Prices below were read from SpringWell’s product pages on October 15, 2026 and are the manufacturer’s own listed figures, not our estimates. Running-cost ranges labeled as SpringWell’s come from SpringWell’s own cost article (modified October 1, 2026). Calculations are our arithmetic and are labeled.
Listed prices on October 15, 2026
SpringWell sells direct, and its About page says: “No quotes or in-home sales visits. The price you see is what you pay” (SpringWell About page). The product pages showed these prices on October 15, 2026, with the regular price struck through during the 15% promotion:
| System | Model | Sale price | Regular price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salt-based softener | SS1 (1–3 bathrooms) | $1,606.50 | $1,890 | Salt softener page |
| Salt-based softener | SS4 (4–6 bathrooms) | $1,785 | $2,100 | Salt softener page |
| Salt-based softener | SS+ (7+ bathrooms) | $2,677.50 | $3,150 | Salt softener page |
| FutureSoft salt-free | FS1 | $1,785 | $2,100 | FutureSoft page |
| FutureSoft salt-free | FS4 | $1,963.50 | $2,310 | FutureSoft page |
| FutureSoft salt-free | FS+ | $2,320.50 | $2,730 | FutureSoft page |
| Water filter + salt softener | CSS1 | $2,231.25 | $2,625 | Combo page |
| Water filter + salt softener | CSS4 | $2,499 | $2,940 | Combo page |
| Water filter + salt softener | CSS+ | $4,284 | $5,040 | Combo page |
| 2-in-1 filter + salt softener | MMV-1 | $2,286.48 | $2,689.98 | 2-in-1 page |
| 2-in-1 filter + salt softener | MMV-4 | $2,833.09 | $3,333.05 | 2-in-1 page |
Our arithmetic: the salt softener sale prices are exactly 85% of the regular prices, consistent with the 15% promotion. Per 1,000 grains of rated capacity at the sale price, the SS1 (32,000 grains) works out to about $50, the SS4 (48,000) about $37 and the SS+ (80,000) about $33. Larger units cost less per grain of capacity, but a softener should be sized to your hardness and flow, not to price per grain. Our SpringWell models comparison shows the specifications.
What the price includes
The salt softener page lists what ships: “Softener Tank, Brine Tank, Drain Line, MNPT Fittings V2, Electronic Head, Power Supply, Hose Clamp.” On October 15, 2026, the page offered two installation add-ons: “Bypass Valve CS” at $58.79 and “Installation Connector – 1 inch” at $83.99, noting that “more than 1 may be needed at install.” The page also says “we added the bypass valve to your cart for easier installation and shut-off. If you prefer, you can remove at checkout,” so check the cart total (salt softener page).
Shipping: “Orders typically ship within 3 to 5 business days. Orders over $29.00 qualify for free shipping.” The About page describes it as “free shipping, straight from our factory to your door, ready to install on your terms.”
Not included:
- Salt. The installation guide says the brine tank “will need to be filled with 4 to 5 bags of salt pellets” at start-up (installation instructions, PDF page 12).
- Installation. SpringWell does not install. Its guide recommends supplies including two 24-inch corrugated water connectors, a 1-inch PVC shut-off valve, a 3-inch PVC nipple and plumber’s tape, and it recommends a three-valve bypass that “a licensed plumber can install” if the SpringWell bypass was not bought (PDF pages 2 and 3).
- Drain and power. A drain within reach of the included 50-foot drain line and an outlet “that isn’t controlled by a switch.”
Installation cost
SpringWell’s own cost article gives these ranges, which are SpringWell’s estimates, not ours: “Budget $150 to $1,000 for professional installation,” with costs higher for “more complex installation due to pipe material and condition, scale and debris buildup, and structural and layout plumbing limitations” (SpringWell cost article).
The warranty adds a reason to get installation right: SpringWell “is not responsible nor liable for plumber fees,” and defects from “failure to adhere to the instruction of the manufacturer during transportation, installation, and use” are not covered (SpringWell warranty). For typical installed costs across brands, see our water softener cost guide.
Running costs
SpringWell’s cost article estimates monthly operating expenses of “salt refills ($5 to $20), water for regeneration ($1 to $5), and electricity ($1 to $1.50),” and says “annual professional servicing costs $125 to $450.” These are SpringWell’s general figures for water softeners, not measurements of SpringWell models.
Our arithmetic: SpringWell’s monthly ranges add up to $7 to $26.50 a month, or about $84 to $318 a year, before any professional service.
What SpringWell publishes about the SS series specifically:
- Salt. SpringWell recommends salt pellets and says potassium chloride works if the hardness setting is raised by 5 gpg. After brine tank cleaning, it says to add two to four 40-lb bags. See our SpringWell regeneration guide.
- Water. Backwash rates of 2 gpm (SS1), 2.4 gpm (SS4) and 4 gpm (SS+), and a 90-minute regeneration. SpringWell does not say how long the backwash runs.
- Media and filters on combos. The combo page lists a pre-filter change “every 6-9 months” and filter media replacement “every 10 years or 1 million gallons” for the CF1, CF4 and CF+ filter tanks (combo page).
- FutureSoft. SpringWell’s salt-softener page describes its salt-free option as “no salt, no sodium, no drain, no electricity,” and the salt softener as needing “salt refills and a drain line.”
A first-year example
Our arithmetic, using only SpringWell’s published figures: an SS4 bought at the October 15 sale price ($1,785), plus the bypass add-on ($58.79), plus SpringWell’s $150 to $1,000 installation range, plus SpringWell’s $84 to $318 annual running-cost range, comes to about $2,078 to $3,162 in the first year. In later years, SpringWell’s ranges suggest $84 to $318 a year in salt, water and power, plus any professional service you choose (SpringWell’s article gives $125 to $450). These are ranges built from SpringWell’s own estimates, not quotes, and your plumber’s price and your water use will decide where you land.
Size drives price more than features
Within the salt-softener line, the three models share the same electronic head, operating limits and warranty. What changes is capacity and flow:
| Model | Bathrooms | Grains | Service flow | Tank | Sale price, Oct 15 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SS1 | 1–3 | 32,000 | 11 gpm | 9” x 48” | $1,606.50 |
| SS4 | 4–6 | 48,000 | 13 gpm | 10” x 54” | $1,785 |
| SS+ | 7+ | 80,000 | 20 gpm | 13” x 54” | $2,677.50 |
SpringWell sizes by bathrooms, but its product page also says “it’s not only about bathroom count. It’s about how many things run at once.” The SS4 costs $178.50 more than the SS1 at the sale price and adds 16,000 grains and 2 gpm. A softener that is too small regenerates more often, which uses more salt and water; one sized for flow avoids pressure loss when several fixtures run. Before paying for the larger unit, compare your water test and peak demand with these figures.
The combos cost more because they add a second treatment tank. The CSS models pair a whole-house filter tank (CF1, CF4 or CF+) with the matching SS softener, so the combo price covers two tanks, two sets of media and two sets of maintenance.
Returns, guarantees and warranty
These terms affect what a purchase can cost you if something goes wrong:

- Performance Promise: “a 6-month Performance Promise” to resolve problems “through troubleshooting, replacement parts, or other remedies as appropriate.”
- Warranty: lifetime on covered items; 10 years on mineral tanks 14” or larger; electronic heads 7 years on the warranty page (the product page says 5 years). Plumber fees excluded. See our SpringWell warranty guide.
