Direct answer: HALO publishes a separate warranty for each product, and the terms differ. HALO 5 and Hybrid get one replacement tank, control valve parts for 10 years and one replacement carbon media package within 10 years. CK10 gets 5 years on the valve and electronics and 1 year on resin, both extended to 10 years if the CK10 is pretreated by a HALO 5, H2 Zero or Mini. ION 2.0 Plus gets 25 years on the magnetic bar, with labor and housing for the first 10. Hydro Point gets 2 years, excluding filters, and Heater Guardian gets 1 year. Nearly all of them require a licensed contractor, purchase through an authorized channel, influent chlorine of 1 mg/L or less, and a well water report sent to HALO for well installations. None includes on-site labor beyond the ION’s stated allowance.

The ION certificate’s dollar allowances are HALO’s own figures from its 2025 warranty document. No other HALO warranty we reviewed states a dollar amount.
Conditions that void HALO warranties
Most HALO warranty documents share a set of conditions. Before buying, check each one against your home:
- Licensed contractor. HALO 5, Hybrid, H2 Zero and Hydro Point require installation by a licensed contractor. HALO 5 and Hybrid are also void if a licensed contractor did not sell the product.
- Authorized channel. HALO 5, Hybrid, H2 Zero, Hydro Point and Heater Guardian are void if bought from a third party, a liquidator or anywhere other than an authorized licensed wholesale distributor.
- Online activation. HALO 5 and Hybrid are void if the warranty was not activated online at halowater.com.
- Pressure. Pressure above 80 psi voids HALO 5, Hybrid, H2 Zero, Hydro Point and Heater Guardian coverage. H2 Zero adds that pressure above 120 psi or vacuum beyond 5 inHg voids the tank warranty.
- Chlorine. Influent chlorine must not exceed 1 mg/L under HALO 5, Hybrid, H2 Zero and Heater Guardian. The CK10 warranty excludes media and internal valve parts on feed water at or above 1 ppm chlorine.
- Well water. HALO 5, Hybrid, Hydro Point and Heater Guardian are void without a current well water report submitted to HALO. The HALO 5 and Hybrid warranties are valid only for residential treatment of municipal water.
- Recirculation. HALO 5 requires a secondary HALO ION on each recirculating loop when a recirculation pump is in use. Heater Guardian requires a secondary conditioner in the same situation.
HALO 5: what the commitments mean in practice
The HALO 5 warranty covers residential point-of-entry systems with tanks up to 13 inches in diameter, for the original owner at the original location. It does not promise to “perform, pay for, or finance any repairs and/or installations.” Replacement parts are limited to “no more than two parts at no cost,” with freight and handling excluded.
HALO’s FAQ summarizes the HALO 5 warranty differently: “Limited lifetime warranty,” with 10 years each on the tank (up to one replacement), the HALO ION, the control head and the media (one carbon boost). The warranty document gives no 10-year limit for the tank replacement and calls lifetime only the availability of components. Ask for the document, not the summary.

CK10: pretreatment changes the term
Under the CK10 warranty, the valve and electronics period runs from the date of manufacture shown by the serial number, unless you provide proof of purchase or installation. Keep the invoice. The 10-year valve and resin terms apply only when a HALO 5, H2 Zero or Mini system pretreats the CK10. Labor and installation workmanship are not covered, and the warranty does not transfer to a later owner.
The CK10 operating manual HALO posts also contains a generic “Residential Water Conditioning Limited Warranty” page with different terms. Under it: 5 years on fiberglass tanks, 5 on the salt tank and control valve, and 1 year on components (manual, page 18). HALO’s July 2025 CK10 warranty is the newer, HALO-specific document. ION 2.0 Plus: register by mail or fax
The ION 2.0 Plus certificate is the only HALO warranty we reviewed that requires the owner to fill out and return the certificate by mail or fax to HALO in Carlsbad, California, to make the warranty effective. Replacement needs the defective unit, prepaid replacement freight and proof of purchase.
HALO’s December 2024 ION spec sheet states both “25 year warranty” and “a 10 year manufacturer’s parts and labor warranty.” The 2025 certificate reconciles these: 25 years on the bar, with 10 years of parts and labor. See HALO ION sizes compared.
Hydro Point and Heater Guardian
Hydro Point (warranty): 2 years on defective parts. Filters are warranted only for defects, because their service life “varies with local water.” HALO recommends replacing the whole under-counter system every 10 years. The warranty’s operating conditions are 40–80 psi, 40–100°F, TDS under 1,000 ppm, pH 3–11 and iron under 0.3 ppm. It places responsibility for installation leaks on the installer.
Heater Guardian (warranty and installation): 1 year. A housing wrench not supplied by HALO voids all warranty. The conditions list says “Replace sump every 3 years,” while a note in the same document recommends replacing plastic sumps every 5 years if clear and 4 years if opaque. Ask HALO which interval applies. HALO says the unit is for cold water only, on the water heater’s cold inlet, with a check valve where a recirculation loop is present.
How do you file a HALO warranty claim?
For HALO 5 and Hybrid, the documents say that before any warranty action the service technician must put the system on bypass and immediately contact HALO with the model number, serial number and photos of the system and problem site. Returns need a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form, the defective parts, a copy of the warranty, the original receipt and the RMA number. H2 Zero adds that HALO does not provide on-site service.

Does HALO 5 have a lifetime warranty?

What voids a HALO water system warranty?

Is the HALO CK10 resin covered for 10 years?

Is a HALO warranty transferable to a new owner?
The HALO 5, Hybrid and CK10 warranties state they are non-transferable. The HALO 5 and Hybrid warranties make an exception if you are listed as the owner when the warranty is activated.
